About The Job

We at The Astral Consulting Group are looking for an experienced cloud engineer to join our growing team. This role is an integral part of the on-demand decision intelligence tools we develop for our clients. The position will be part-time and virtual for the foreseeable future.

Job Duties

Job Duties:

  • Develop data ingestion pipelines (ELT & ETL methodologies) through various means to meet specific business cases

  • Configure and deploy cloud computing resources across various platforms (data lake, data warehouse, cloud-based SQL, Graph, and traditional no-SQL data stores, etc)

  • Cloud architecture design based on specified business goals (modern data platform from ETL/ELT to analytics and machine learning)

  • Deploy machine learning models (with a focus on predictive analytics and recommendation engines) 

  • Note: a robust data science skill set is not required, but deployment of models on pre-processed data sets is necessary 

  • Work collaboratively with self-organized Astral Agile sprint teams to meet deadlines, define sprint goals and achievable milestones, and work closely with ACG directors and partners

  • Join client-facing and internal standup meetings to report progress and resolve outstanding issues

Qualifications

Qualifications: 

  • B.S. in computer science or related discipline (Master's degree preferred) 

  • 3-5 years experience working across the AWS and Microsoft Azure cloud ecosystems (Must have experience in ALL of the following: BLOB/S3 storage configuration, ADL gen2/Lake Formation, Synapse/Redshift, Glue, Databricks, Data Factory) 

  • 3+ years working on projects using Agile Methodologies with proven success

  • Proven success overcoming major obstacles as part of Agile sprint teams

  • Embody and demonstrate ACG core principles of accountability, passion, transparency, innovation, and collaboration 

  • Availability to work in flexible environment (several hours per weekend strongly preferred)
